EVRA NAMES HIS BEST FRENCH PLAYERS

Former AS Monaco and Manchester United defender Patrice Evra has named his five favourite French stars in an exclusive interview with Inside United ahead of the recent Group F meeting between France and Portugal. Patrice Evra mentioned Zinedine Zidane, Thierry Henry, David Ginola, Eric Cantona, and Didier Deschamps as his top five French players.

Patrice Evrasaid Manchester United legend Cantona made his list because of what he did during his time at the Manchester United. On his selection of Ginola, Evra saidthe winger made his top five French stars due to his influential spells at Paris Saint Germain (PSG) and Newcastle United. The ex-Manchester United left-back added that he shares similarities with Ginola as they have both been public enemies in France.

Former French national team defender Evra thanked Deschamps for the start of his professional career at the age of 20 as he described him as a born winner. Deschamps made his list for being his coach and a key man for France when they won the World Cup title in both 1998 and 2018. Deschamps was the skipper who lifted the World Cup trophy when France beat Brazil 3-0 in the final of the 1998 FIFA World Cup tournament on home soil. 20 years later, Deschamps led France to their second World Cup title as manager after seeing off Croatia 4-2 in the final.

Patrice Evrasaid Thierry Henry is a good friend and that he made the list as the topscorer in the history of French national team football in addition to all he did in the Premier League with North London team Arsenal. On the selection of Zidane, he described Zidane as a proper legend of French football and that his importance to French footballcould be likened to how the Eifel Tower is important to the city of Paris.
