Patrice Evra unveiled his desire of returning to Manchester United

After spending 9 seasons as a player of Manchester United in a time-lapse that initiated on January of 2006 and reached it´s end on July of 2014 which is when he completed his transfer to the Italian outfit Juventus.

During those 8 years performing in Old Trafford, Patrice Evra helped Manchester United in securing the Premier League on 5 occasions and the UEFA Champions League as well as many other pieces of silverware.

On 2014, The French defender made his way to Juventus as he joined for a price tag of £1.5 million and continued to add more trophies to his collection but after 3 seasons, Evra continued extending his playing career as he joined another club, this time, it was Marseille.

However, according to the veteran player, Evra stated that he was on the verge or at least thinking about making a return to Old Trafford and one of the reasons of why he was so tempted on coming back to the English Premier League club was due to Jose Mourinho.

“I need coaches like Ferguson, coaches with an iron fist, because I work like that. Jose knows it. We sometimes send each other texts. I won’t hide it; I almost went back to Manchester. Unfortunately, it didn’t happen. I won’t go into details, but of course I would have loved to have played for Mourinho.” Marseille´s Patrice Evra said.

Taking into consideration the fact that Patrice Evra is 36 years old, even if he had indeed opted on making a return to Manchester United, its actually not very likely that he would’ve been able to get into the starting lineup of Jose Mourinho as the Portuguese coach already a number of younger options available to him in the defence of Manchester United and despite having to settle in the 6th spot for the season of 2016-17, they actually only conceded 29 goals which is the 2nd lowest amount of goals conceded for a club during that season.

The only other club that conceded fewer amount was Tottenham Hotspur with 26.

From the looks of it, the defensive department of Manchester United is not something that Jose Mourinho is worried about as it´s already fortified and healthy with the likes of: Eric Bailly, Daley Blind, Matteo Darmian, Phil Jones, Marcos Rojo and Chris Smalling.

Those previously mentioned defender were regular starters for Jose Mourinho during his debut season at the helm of Manchester United and all of them are significantly younger than the 36 year old Patrice Evra.
