PATRICE EVRA TO RETURN TO ACTION?

There are reports that Patrice Evra has received an offer to return to action from Turkish Super Lig side Galatasaray. The Frenchman had his deal with Marseille terminated last November following a public outcry after the player kicked one of his own supporters before the start of a Europa League game.

The former Manchester United player was a substitute in the game against Vitoria. He appeared to kick the player so he was sent off before the kickoff. He was suspended by his club and then UEFA banned him from competitions until 2018. It was the perfect excuse for the club to terminate the deal as fans raised hell about his actions.

The player kept training and keeping fit, posting numerous videos on his active Instagram page. Goal reports that the Turkish side are impressed and have now offered him a lifeline to return to action. The player’s agent Frederico Pastorello is in Istanbul to discuss terms.

Evra would not be able to play in UEFA tournaments but he would be able to play in the Super Lig. Galatasaray are in second place and could do with an experienced player like Evra. Evra would be 37 in May but he remains a fit defender and would add flavour to any top side. He featured 12 times for Marseille prior to the termination.

It is unknown if Galatasaray would offer him a year and half deal but he is expected to finish the current season with them. They could ask for the rest of the season first and then add one more year if he performs very well. Gala are hoping to overcome the rest of the Istanbul opposition and lift the Super Lig.
