Patrice Evra admits his feelings about leaving Manchester United

5 Premier League and 1 Champions League titles are just some of the major pieces of silverware that Patrice Evra secured during his time as a player of Manchester United after spending 8 years with the English club.

Patrice Evra was reaching an age where it was just too much for the Premier League outfit and Louis van Gaal wanted to replace the French defender with some younger figures, which is why Evra was offloaded to Juventus for a bargain price of €1.2 million in a transfer that was completed on July 21st of 2014.

So far it has been a successful transfer for Patrice Evra as the French defender has turned into a regular starter for MassimilianoAllegri at Juventus. During his debut season with the Italian club, Evra made 21 appearances and was also featured in the Champions League matches of his new club.

Even though Patrice Evra still continues playing at a high level with Juventus and has lifted more pieces of silverware to his closet, the experienced defender has admitted in saying that making a switch away from Old Trafford was not an easy one and he believes that leaving a club with the caliber like Manchester United, it’s always a wrong decision to make.

‘’It was really difficult for me to leave Manchester United. I left for a personal choice. It does not matter if you go somewhere and you are still winning, it is always the wrong decision to leave a club like United.’’ Patrice Evra said.

Patrice Evra played for 89 minutes during the Champions League finals match between Juventus and Barcelona which concluded in a 3-1 victory for the Spanish team and the French defender became the 2nd player in history to play in the Champions League finals with 3 different clubs. The first and only other player who has accomplished this feat is Clarence Seedorf.
