CHILEAN ISLA LEAVES JUVENTUS

Juventus release another player this summer to Cagliari. Juve released the player on a three year contract for an undisclosed fee to the newly promoted Serie A club.

Cagliari made the confirmation of the deal, after reports in Italy announced the transfer between both clubs, on Wednesday.
The Chile international is up to 28 years old, but he was impressive when he was on loan at Olympique de Marseille and when he was on national team duty. Isla helped Chile to their second successive Copa America title, after seeing off South American stronghold Argentina twice in two years via penalty shootout. Isla featured in the finals played in United States this year.

Isla started his footballing career in Chile at Univesidad Catolica before moving to Italy to play at Udinese. He moved to Juventus in 2012 and was part of the title-winning team but he fell out of favour under Massimiliano Allegri. He was shipped out on loan to Queen Park Rangers in England for the 2014/2015 season but he could not offer much help as they were relegated from top flight football. The Serie B champions wanted a player with Serie A experience but within their budget, and Juventus were happy to let the player go. He could feature when Cagliari begin their Serie A campaign against Genoa on August 21.

Patrice Evra And His Contribution To France

Patrice Evra might have been a public enemy at the time when Euro 2016 started, but the recovery story of France sees him to have become the leader of the national team by the time they reached the finals in Euro 2016.

He had been a controversial figure in 2010 in the World Cup with his rebellious attitude. However, he has matured since then and grown to be a wise head in the game and for his team members. This current tournament definitely saw him in a new avatar and he took on a leading role for the team that was much responsible for the success that the country saw this time.

The journey has been a remarkable one for the player. Though the team did not win the finals the journey to the finale of this international tournament has definitely seen much contribution from this defender of the France team. It has been six years since he has come back from being considered an enemy for the team to be a leading player of the same. At the age of 35 Evra has definitely lost the hot headedness or some of it which he exhibited in the 2010 tournament. The finals against Portugal will help him win the 80th cap. He would have probably earned much more over the years as did his contemporaries like Didier Deschamps, Zinedine Zidane and others if he had been able to reign in his temperament earlier in his career. Owen Hargreaves says that it is wrong to blame only Louis Van Gaal

Former Manchester United midfielder Owen Hargreaves says that it is wrong to blame only Louis Van Gaal for the troubles that the club has been facing the 2015-16 season.

This is because he believes that the seeds of mediocrity were sown as early as during the David Moyes era. The club reduced the spending in the transfer window during the final years of Sir Alex Ferguson. This mentality continued even when the team appointed Moyes. Ferguson’s brilliance was a major factor in United winning the league title in 2013, but they were woefully exposed under Moyes.

The club has been unable to recover since then. However, many are left surprised with United still struggling to come anywhere near contention for a trophy. This is due to the £ 300 million splashed out on new players by manager Van Gaal. Due to his reputation, the club did not think twice about spending money on new players like Di Maria. Hargreaves reckons that the investment should have come much earlier and the board should not have allowed the squad to disintegrate. The former City and United player claims that the club has lost direction in the last few years. Read more »
